Turned out great. I put half an orange, onion and garlic in the cavity. It turned out so pretty with beautiful brown crispy skin. Thank you!

My husband hates turkey and in his words "can't even force myself to eat one bite"...until this turkey! It was amazingly simple and so delicious! I just used carrots and onions, no apples. He even said I "could" make another one for dinner one night. THANK YOU!

I used the recipe but instead of an apple I used a half of an orange. Being a senior citizen I have cooked many turkeys but this was by far the best I have ever made. It was so delicious, very moist and flavorful. My family loved it. Thank you!

Simply amazing. I made an herb butter and put it under the skin and on the outside. I had a 17 pound bird, and I roasted it at 325 for 3:15 then basted with butter, and then at 425 for 1 hour. I stuffed the cavity with onion, celery, carrots, garlic cloves and fresh herbs. First time I ever cooked a turkey, and first time for Thanksgiving. This turkey turned out perfectly. I was actually kinda shocked how juicy and tasty it turned out to be. Like something out of a magazine. I'm going to do it again for my family for Christmas. PERFECT RESULTS!!!

Really a simple and foolproof recipie. I did chop some herbs and mix with olive oil, salt/pepper and rub underneath the turkey skin. Added extra aroma and flavor. Great recipe. Served it with Neely's Holiday Cornbread Stuffing - all was a huge hit

Fantastic! My husband and I made Thanksgiving dinner for my son and two of his fire stations. We wanted to deliver the dinner, complete with a "Norman Rockwell" turkey on the platter. The fire fighters were thrilled. I have roasted turkeys for many years. This is the best recipe I have ever followed. The turkey was fully cooked, tasty, and so juicy! As I carved the turkey at the table, the juice just seeped down each breast slice. Everyone loved that perfect bird. This recipe is a keeper!

We have deep fried turkeys, made them on the charcoal grill and roasted them in counter top roasters. This method was by far the best! Turkey came out picture perfect and the taste was amazing. I stuffed mine with traditional stuffing mix. Just perfect!!

Made this yesterday for Thanksgiving. Everyone loved it! Stuffed it with quartered lemons, quartered clementines, garlic cloves, quartered onions, rosemary, thyme and sage. I did the trick another reviewer suggested: spreading a stick of softened butter under the skin of each breast. It was fantastic. Timing for our size turkey was perfect.

This turkey was excellent! Very moist and I got rave reviews from my mom who has made many. It would be helpful to clarify the timing. For bigger birds, is it 2 hours + an additional 15min per pound + an hour at high temp? Or just a total of 15 min per pound extra and work backward including the hour at high temp? I had a 22 lb bird so I did 4 hours at lower temp then increased to 425 degrees for about 45 min and watched the thermometer closely. I cooked it to 170 just in case. I covered with foil and 3 folded bath towels to rest for an hour as my guests were late and it stayed hot. Easy to carve. Nice dark golden brown. Next year I will try to make the gravy. Stuffed with apple, onion, celery, sage and carrot. Basted with butter and pan juices that I added water and chicken broth too.
