I just made these and used Applesauce instead. Same amount 15oz. Although Applesauce does not come in 15oz cans in my area so I measured from a 23oz jar of Applesauce. Everyone in my family and work loved them. Tonight I am making it again using a white cake mix, and another Devils Food. We just can not get enough of them.

Was skeptical but decided to try the recipe. Turns out these are delicious and nobody would guess made without any oil! Not as sweet as brownies but moist and super chocolate flavor!! I ended up making a second batch and put walnuts in the mix...Yumm! will be great with morning coffee!

Awesome! These are very moist and chocolatey. I used Pillsbury moist supreme devils food cake mix and made sure not to overbake these as one of the reviews I read said they were dry. The only difficulty I had was in mixing this. It is a very thick batter, but well worth the effort. Thanks HG!

These are super moist. I made them in mini muffin pan. The 1st batch didn't have enough chocolate flavor so I added 6 choc. chips to the tops of the next batch. Much better but maybe add some coco powder and a touch of sugar to the batter next time also. Loved them!

I made this with a Butter Chocolate cake mix instead of the Devil's Food. I think it came out with maybe a more mellow flavor than if I had used the other. (It was what I had in my pantry. Mine seemed a little dry, but otherwise it was good. I am wondering if altitude plays a part with whether it comes out moist or dry. Any ideas?

Ok if you really want a chocolate fix and don't want the extra fat and calories....I'm a gluten free hungry girl and ended up inventing my own gluten free cake mix as those flours can be very dense in comparison to conventional flours....I was able to control the sugar content better that way as well....i am a real vanilla extract fan, so i added my own to the mix as well....turned out great, i love pumpkin anyway, but these did not taste of pumpkin, and the guys in my life had no idea they were healthy, low fat, gluten free or good for them in any way....(LOVE IT!

I've made these 3 times now. They are moist and delicious. I'm not a fan of all of Hungry Girl's recipes but I'm definitely a fan of these...and I don't generally like cake mix recipes. Thanks!

I made these the other day. I got a sugar free cake mix. I normally don't like anything pumpkin and I could only find a can of generic pumpkin so I was worried. At first I wasn't sure if I liked them they had a bit of a pruney flavor ( I guess that's pumpkin but they grew on me and now I really like them and plan on making them again. Tip....keep stirring. I almost thought I had done it wrong as it seemed so dry but it finally came together.
