I really enjoyed the flavours of this dish. I baked mine with the marinade instead of grilling it and it was very moist and one of the best talapia recipes I've tried! I didn't make the rice, so no review for that.

I made this recipe and was disappointed. I made this for the fish. The ginger and orange sounded like a nice combination, but it turned out to be very bland. I did not make the rice, as I had my own recipe for coconut rice and used that.

This was so different than anything I've ever eaten before! The tilapia and rice complement each other very nicely. I might put more hot sauce with the marinade next time. I actually used a cup of minute rice, and it turned out fine...tasted like sweet rice; I also could not find "cocunut milk" so I used an 8.5 oz can of "cream of coconut" instead. The rice is very sweet...reminds me of peach cobbler when eaten by itself.

I find the combination delightful, but I sort of personalized it to my (our taste. I added fresh garlic to the marinade, more hot sauce. As far as the rice, less salt, I sauteed half of a red onion, fresh red pepper and parsley, more water in addition to the recipe and reduced the salt. It was delicious, my son had double portion.

Not sure why this recipe has a 4 star rating. I prepared this dish for my family and after the first 2 bites of rice and fish I wanted to throw it in the garbage. I followed the recipe and even took some preparation advice from some of the other reviews. Both the rice and fish came out on the bland side. I was hoping for a "Yes!" after the first bite, but my palate gave me the "Nope!"
After reviewing the ingredients for both the fish marinade and the rice, it makes sense why this dish is so bland. The given ingredients look good on paper at first, but need a few other additional ingredients to help bring out a more robust flavor. Anyway, maybe I'm just a little bit of a food snob....so if you know that you're somewhat of a food snob then this is not the recipe for you.

So easy and SO GOOD! I used a tablespoon of hot sauce instead of the teaspoon the recipe called for. YUM

For the Mango Coconut rice, I would definitely reduce the salt to just a dash. The flavors are so lovely, there's really no need to overpower them with a whole tsp. Also perhaps the rice ought to be soaked for 20-30 minutes beforehand. As with many of the other reviewers, the rice refused to soften for me with the recipe given here. After an hour of cooking it was still crunchy :( A huge disappointment because the flavor was so wonderful.
I'm not a fan of fish so I can't really rate it fairly... I will at least say that the marinade tasted quite good, and the two recipes, fish and rice, accompanied each other perfectly.
