Best Of List: Warming Comfort Food
Cricklewood
Northern California may not be the first place you think of for classic steakhouses, but Cricklewood is just that. They serve up aged Black Angus beef, Sonoma County wines and the best thing Guy Fieri ever ate in a bowl: French onion soup.
Gumbo Shack
When you're hungry for serious Creole food, head on down to Gumbo Shack. The local favorite has bands playing every weekend, gumbo ranked #6 on Alabama's Top 100 Foods to Eat Before You Die, and crawfish so spicy Guy Fieri almost couldn't handle it.
Angelini Osteria
Ask Wolfgang Puck what's the perfect fish and he'll say the Salt-Crusted Branzino at Angelini Osteria. On The Best Thing I Ever Ate, he admitted to dreaming about the Branzino's light, delicate flavors. Angelini's also has another admirer, as Giada dreams about the Lasagna Verde with spinach pasta.
Dish
Walking into Dish feels like walking into someone's grandmother's house. It’s warm and casual and you get the feeling you're going to be taken care of. Come for classic Southern comfort food like fried green tomatoes or chicken and biscuits, a Guy Fieri favorite.
Kakawa Chocolate House
A visit to Kakawa will change the way you look at chocolate. The staff will happily explain the food's history or take you on a tasting tour of different styles of chocolate. Stop in for truffles, chocolate elixirs, homemade ice cream or spicy drinking chocolate.
