For some of the best no-frills doughnuts around, head to Brooklyn to experience this timeless old-school bakery. Originally opened in the 1960s, Leske's closed briefly in 2011 but reopened soon after with several of the original bakers, who brought back the same beloved cakes, black-and-white cookies, signature Kringlers and, of course, some good old-fashioned doughnuts. The absolute must here is the best-in-class Peanut Butter and Jelly Doughnut. The soft yeast pocket topped with a sweet peanut butter frosting and filled with a tart blackberry jam is worth the trek out to Bay Ridge.
