French Canadian immigrants brought many recipes to Vermont, but Quebecois meat pie, called tourtiere, stands out. The two-crusted pies are usually filled with ground beef and pork, onions, mashed potato, cinnamon, and cloves. Quality Bake Shop in Essex Junction has made them for more than 30 years, based on a family recipe.
