The Mentors' Choice

From among 10 home cooks, the four mentors chose two each for their teams. Find out which eight home cooks made it onto which team for a place in the All-Star Academy.

Team Alex: August and Sherri

"There was something in both the mistakes ... and [what he] did right," says Alex of her decision to choose August. And as the last mentor to pick, she selected Sherri, saying, "Sometimes the last scoop of jam in the jar tastes the best."

Team Bobby: Joseph and Angela

In choosing Joseph, Bobby emphasized how impressed he was with his cooking skills. On picking Angela, Bobby says he saw in her food that she's "willing to try a lot of different things" without fear. "I got the two that I wanted," he says.

Team Curtis: Mimi and Sharon

Curtis chose Mimi because he saw in her a "clarity of thought," noticing her incredible organization during the cooking demo. He also decided to go with Sharon, who made an impression on him, naming her "the cook that I was first drawn to."

Team Michael: Vanessa and Bill

"I want a balance of like, kind of rock solid, steady, and I always like a little bit of passion on the verge of crazy," Michael says of choosing Vanessa. When it comes to Bill, he says, "If anybody can handle pressure-packed situations, it's a fireman."
