Be a Competitive Chameleon — Robert

"Any cook that goes into any competition, they all think they know what they’re doing because they cook at home. Competitions are very, very different. They’re fast-paced. ... Don’t get tied down or fixed to one thing. Be adaptable ... and have a great sense of humor and passion for what you do."

Have Laser-Vision Focus — Andrew

"Head down, focus, you know, don’t look across the stage and say: 'Oh, my God, that’s Alex Guarnaschelli. Oh, my God, that’s Curtis Stone. Oh, my God, that’s Robert Irvine.' Don't even look at the other competitors. Head down, focus. Your food, put it on the plate, make it nice."

Get Ready to Soak It All Up — Curtis

"When you walk in here, you have to ... check everything at the door, [like] your emotions. ... Just be ready to learn. Soak it all up. Push yourself, and try and achieve stuff that you've never achieved before. I think that's the most-important thing."

Move Past Your Inhibitions — Alex

"Be in the moment and don't worry about being nervous. ... I think it’s inevitable. There's so much that they stand to gain. ... I just think there's a moment when you've got to feel it, and maybe by feeling it you can move past it and really make great food."
