Duff Goldman was on hand as a guest judge for the "Ace of Cakes 100th Episode Celebration" episode. The contestants were asked to make cupcakes inspired by the genius of Duff's Charm City Cakes bakers. Jessica Cuff rocked both the taste and presentation challenge with her rich chocolate cake topped with marshmallow frosting, drizzled with tepid, bittersweet cocoa and espresso ganache. Judge Florian Bellanger said he loved "the consistency and moisture" of the cupcake.
Rich Chocolate Caramel Cupcake
Lisa Cowden's obsession with Food Network paid off in a big way in the "Survival of the Fittest" episode. Her decadent recipe featured chocolate cake filled with a caramel-cream center, enhanced with a creamy agave caramel sauce and topped with a Ghirardelli chocolate frosting and rock-candy garnish. Guest judge Sue Oh, director of programs at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, said Lisa's cupcake "hit the mark."
