Michelle Honeman and Liz Marek, Artisan Cake Company

As the owner of Artisan Cake Company in Portland, Ore., Liz Marek will find any excuse to put a nontraditional twist on her creations, like using glow-in-the-dark techniques, animatronics and electrical installations, among others. Liz and her assistant Michelle Honeman have won several competitions.

Kim Simons and Michelle Boyd, The Food Artist Group

Kim Simons is the creative director of The Food Artist Group and was recently voted one of Dessert Professional's Top 10 Cake Artists in the nation. Without any formal training, she produces whimsical, lifelike cakes. Her longtime collaborator, Michelle Boyd, is joining her in the competition.

Jackie New and Wiley Saccheri, Sublime Cake Design

Wiley Saccheri is the head cake artist of Sublime Cake Design in Redding, Calif. As a former punk rock drummer with no formal training in decorating, he was inspired to take his talents to the dessert world by none other than Duff himself. Wiley co-owns the business with his mother-in-law, Jackie New.

Kelly Zubal and Pete Ngau, Inticing Creations

Kelly Zubal is the owner, designer and lead decorator at Inticing Creations in San Francisco. Entirely self-taught, she bakes and decorates her sculpted confections with help from her husband, Pete Ngau. Together the two fashion some of the most-creative cakes in the Bay Area.

Tiffany and Gonzuela Bastarache, KupKake Tree

Gonzuela Bastarache runs KupKake Tree in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. She specializes in edible works of art and produces precise, realistic and colorful masterpieces. She is a competition veteran and will be working alongside her graphic-designer niece, Tiffany.

Karolyn Plummer and Jasmine Frank, Sweet Red Peach Custom Cakes

As a cake artist at Sweet Red Peach Custom Cakes in Inglewood, Calif., Jasmine Frank continually strives to innovate, whether with new ingredients or decorating techniques. She and her boss/fellow cake decorator Karolyn Plummer produce some of the most-interesting cakes in greater Los Angeles.

Jackie McGrath and Tina Hernandez, Sweet Treets Bakery

Jackie McGrath is the owner and lead decorator at Sweet Treets Bakery in Austin. She is known for producing seemingly impossible cakes that blend crazy ingredients and elements. She and her assistant, Tina Hernandez, are bringing everything they've got to the table.

Reva Alexander-Hawk and Karah Williams, Merci Beaucoup Cakes

Reva Alexander-Hawk is an award-winning pastry chef and owner of Merci Beaucoup Cakes in Santa Rosa, Calif. The self-proclaimed "cake nerd" has taken her talent to television in the past and, alongside longtime associate Karah Williams, is ready to go to battle.

Aya Saravia and Lachlan Oliver, Heaven Sent Desserts

Former Air Force medic Lachlan Oliver decided to take his passion for helping others to the cake world, opening Heaven Sent Desserts in San Diego. He has made fantastic culinary confections for the likes of Beyoncé and Madonna. He and cake technician Aya Saravia are bringing their talents to Duff's shop.

Kimberly Bailey and Rainbow Dickerson, The Butter End Cakery

Kimberly Bailey is the owner and lead cake artist at The Butter End Cakery in Santa Monica. The onetime aspiring actress fought a battle with cancer, came back stronger and turned her talents to making cakes for Hollywood's elite. She and her assistant Rainbow Dickerson are bringing their best.

Amanda and Tyler Oakleaf, Oakleaf Cakes

Amanda Oakleaf is the owner of Oakleaf Cakes in Boston. She works alongside her husband, Tyler, who is an expert on the engineering, sculptural and design side of the couple's incredible cakes, which have included a life-size storm trooper and Darth Vader.

Kara Andretta and Avalon Yarnes, Avalon Cakes

As the owner and lead decorator at Avalon Cakes in Denver, Avalon Yarnes is widely recognized as one of the most-talented cake artists in the industry. She has competed in and won several televised and local competitions, and now with her frequent collaborator, Kara Andretta, is taking on Duff's challenge.

Julia Doubleday and Natalie Sideserf, Sideserf Cake Studio

Natalie Sideserf is the owner of Sideserf Cake Studio in Austin. Formerly a sculptor, she is considered to be one of the most talented young cake artists in the country at the forefront of realistic cake decorating. She'll be working with local cake decorator Julia Doubleday, and the two will be a tough duo to beat.

Sarah Myers, High Five Cakes and Timbo Sullivan, Cakes by Timbo

Sarah Myers is the owner and lead decorator at High Five Cakes in Waverly, Ohio, and has been decorating professionally for five years. She works alongside Timbo Sullivan of Cakes by Timbo, who with just a few years of experience has emerged as one of the youngest and most-talented decorators.
