Stars Online

Bobby tells the finalists that the future Star must be able "to create a social media presence," and to prepare them for touting themselves and their food online, he challenges them to create a 60-second video about what this competition is really like. "Think of it sort of like a video selfie," he advises.

Tying It Together

"[A] Web video gives me the opportunity to be super weird and creative," Loreal says of her goals for the tape. She lights high flames, skips across the kitchen and poses with chicken wings, much to the delight of Bobby. "I think you had some really kind of fun moments," he tells her, but he wasn't impressed that she didn't connect her chicken butchering how-to with her experience as a butcher.

Time As the Enemy

After falling short on timing in the past few challenges, Chris is determined to wrap up his video before he gets cut off, but ultimately he finishes too early, as there's still 15 seconds left in the video. Nevertheless, Bobby commends him on presenting with "high energy," but Bobby adds, "You didn't really tell us a lot about yourself."

Face First

For Aryen, the issue isn't time so much as it is the camera itself, as she struggles to film herself in a flattering frame. "You had the camera so close to your face," Bobby tells her, "[that] it looked like you were going to eat us." He adds that she "looked kind of scattered," and Aryen is disappointed in her performance. "To feel like I'm failing is the worst feeling in the world," she explains.

A Positive Outcome

"The tip — you didn't really pull it off," Bobby explains to Sarah, who simply broiled cracked eggs in a pan. Despite this misstep, Bobby's wowed by her coverage of "behind the scenes," and he says, "In general, I really liked you in that."

Advantage: Emma

Emma wins the Mentor Challenge with a full-package presentation that Bobby says is "a great example of connecting all the dots," and she's earned the advantage of choosing the teams in the upcoming Star Challenge at YouTube Space LA. Bobby says that their goal is to "create a buzz-worthy online marketing video" that showcases a specific candy.

Scary-Good Candy

Working on the set of a laboratory to market PayDay candy bars, Aryen, Lenny and Christopher put together a "mad scientist"-focused video, according to Christopher. YouTube's Shay Carl drops by to offer tips for their concept, and while Shay says he's "cracking up" at their progress with Monster Lenny, Lenny and Aryen are concerned that Christopher is hesitant to rehearse his character.

Energy Crisis

Nicole, Emma and Reuben take advantage of the latter two's knowledge of Spanish and decide to turn their classroom set into a Reese's Spanish language class led by Professor Reuben. The ladies take to their roles well, but Reuben appears uncharacteristically subdued. Emma explains Shay's advice to her team: "He's like, 'Really get into your characters and let them explode.'"

Sweet Dates

"I'm just going to make sure that I have the biggest role in this video," Chris remarks of his plans to work with Sarah and Loreal on a living room set. Simply because they aren't impressed with any other ideas, the group sticks with Loreal's date-focused concept, and Chris plays the dad while Loreal and Sarah are sisters introducing him to their dates: Almond Joy and Mounds bars.

A+ Delivery

Reuben's oversize costume beard prevents him from fully connecting with viewers, according to one YouTube executive who stopped by to judge the finalists' videos. Nevertheless, Reuben, Nicole and Emma present the top marketing campaign of the day, and they're all deemed safe from elimination. "Everyone really enjoyed your video," Giada tells the team.

Just Cutting It

"[Sarah and Loreal] didn't have enough to do," Alton says of their performances. And one YouTube executive says of the impact of Chris' presentation: "Chris stood out to me as someone I might hang out with regularly if he did have a YouTube channel." The video is good enough that they, too, all escape elimination this week.

Unforgettable If Nothing Else

Jaws are dropped, eyes are covered, and the Selection Committee is rendered almost speechless after watching Christopher, Lenny and Aryen's over-the-top video. "It did give you a sort of gut reaction," Giada tells her fellow panelists. They're disappointed by Christopher's reserved delivery, and they struggle to make out Aryen's important closing line, so all three finalists are put up for elimination.

Best of the Bottom

"In my opinion, everyone else made spiral video. We made the only viral video," says Lenny, who receives significant props for taking his presentation to the next level by losing his shirt and taping candy bars to his chest. "I think Lenny is the one person ... that is willing to do anything to win this," Bobby notes of Lenny, who's safe from elimination while his teammates' futures are uncertain.

Aryen's Exit

Although Christopher needs to work on his relationship with the camera, it's Aryen who's let go from the competition. Bobby tells her: "I know there's a lot there — just based on all the places in the world you've lived and traveled. But we've asked you over and over to give it to us, and you just haven't." Looking back on the contest, Aryen reflects, "I'm disappointed because I didn't see myself going home."
