Top 10 Moments: 1. Midterms

Bobby announces the season's midterm twist: "Two will be going home. The six remaining will be coming to my hometown, New York City."

2. Cooking vs. Camera

Bobby tells Penny that she needs to be more likeable, but she continues to follow the same path: "Classic Penny. Good food, not good on camera." She won't survive the competition on great food alone.

3. Make It Personal

Whitney is told to get personal with the camera and show some warmth. She succeeds with a story about making gazpacho for her sorority sisters.

4. Bobby's in the House!

When Bobby shows up at the Star House, the finalists know they're in for a surprise. "Something's about to go down," says Chris.

5. Superstar Guest

Sure enough, something — or better yet, someone — big is in store for the next Star Challenge. The finalists learn they'll be cooking an extravagant dinner party for chef Wolfgang Puck.

6. Dessert Dilemma

Chris is tasked with making the final course: dessert. "This is a nightmare for me," he says.

7. Drama-Free Shopping

Mary Beth and Penny get past their issues and head to Target to shop for the dinner party decor. "If there's one thing that unites all women, it's shopping," says Mary Beth.

8. Susie Shines

Susie's Mexican-inspired take on a cheese course gets the highest of praise: "Of all the dishes, this will stay in my head the most," says Wolfgang Puck.

9. Risotto Tutorial

The most dramatic moment of the evening? Jyll's risotto is so flawed that Mr. Puck himself guides her back into the kitchen to show her how to make it properly. Naturally, Jyll is mortified.

10. Double Elimination

In the end, it's Penny and Chris who are left behind as the rest of the finalists head to New York.

The Play-by-Play

We've covered the Top 10, but there were many more highlights of this intense double-elimination episode. Here, Bobby tells Jyll to surprise him. Her strategy to do so doesn't work out so well.

Tortilla Teacher

Susie wants to teach tortilla-making, but she gets a little caught up and never explains her signature dish. "You need to drive with a map in front of you," says Bobby.

Too Much Talking

Vic gets so detailed in his explanation of his dish that he doesn't make anything at all on camera. "You didn't cook anything, dude!" says Bobby.

Whitney Warms Up

"I need to make it personal and be myself," says Whitney. She succeeds and wins the challenge, earning an advantage in the next one.

Crowd-Pleaser

This week, Giada is impressed with Whitney's performance AND food: "I look at the dish and I know whose it is. It's fantastic."

Hit the Ground Running

After Bobby's surprise visit to the house, the finalists scramble to plan their menu for Wolfgang Puck. Jeff is worried: "We have the most basic pantry ever and we have to cook for a five-star chef."

Controlled Chaos

Cooking in the cramped Star House kitchen, the finalists fight for counter and oven space.

Where's My Sandwich?

Jeff decides to veer away from his sandwich POV and make a refined carpaccio: "I want to prove that I can impress with something different."

Team Leader

As the Camera Challenge winner, Whitney gets to assign courses to her fellow finalists. She also steps up as the leader of the kitchen.

A Party for Puck

Chris greets Wolfgang Puck and the selection committee with Champagne.

Cool and Collected?

You wouldn't guess from his relaxed facade that he's completely stressed about his dessert.

"I Need to Kill It"

As usual, Penny's food doesn't disappoint.

Wolfgang's Take

"I hope it tastes as good as it looks," says Wolfgang of Penny's shrimp dish. Once he takes a bite, he's impressed. But will it be enough to make up for her poor camera performances?

What Makes Bobby Happy

Back at evaluation, the selection committee has tons of praise for Susie. "I've made my living with these ingredients, and this is really delicious. Her soul is in this," says Bobby.

On to NYC

Susie gets emotional talking about her parents and her dreams. Then she learns she's the challenge winner and heading to NYC!

Safe

Vic and Whitney are coming along to the Big Apple.

Nervous

Mary Beth defends herself while Chris waits anxiously for his midterm feedback. Turns out he won't be coming to New York: "I'm going to go home, work the line at a restaurant. Hopefully I'll make something of my name."

Penny Left Behind

Jyll and Mary Beth are safe, so it's Penny who will be going home with Chris: "Mary Beth, I'm leaving the drama to you," she says on her way out.
