Episode 1: Second Chances

For the first time in Food Network Star history, one previously eliminated finalist will be allowed to re-enter the on-air competition. But to earn redemption, they'll first need to survive four weeks of Star Salvation, presented by Buitoni and hosted by Robert Irvine. Watch the first episode of Star Salvation of this new, exclusive Web series.

Episode 1: First Fallen Four

Danushka, Lovely, Daniela and Andres are the early eliminated Season 9 finalists, and they're the first to gather for round one of Salvation. "I got eliminated first," Daniela explains, "which didn't give me enough of a chance to show who I really am."

Episode 1: Kitchen Essentials

Robert puts the contestants' basic culinary chops to the test by challenging them to perform a series of seemingly simple tasks — crack one dozen eggs, break down a whole chicken, julienne two carrots, clean six shrimp and make garlic paste from a single head of garlic — in just 15 minutes. On top of that, they must introduce Robert to their culinary points of view.

Episode 1: Explaining Himself

"I don't know how well I'm going to do at this because I am not a professional chef, but Robert is going to understand why I'm here," Andres says, before clarifying his cooking-as-empowerment outlook. Robert deems Andres' point of view "very intriguing," but Andres doesn't complete the challenge on time. "My second chance and I've already messed it up," he reflects.

Episode 1: Familiar Fate

"Sexy doesn't work if you can't put food on a plate," Robert tells Daniela after she notes, "I'm sexy; I'm hot; I can cook amazing food; and I can make it taste really good. And I'm from Peru." Although she finishes each task, her skills demonstrate sloppiness, and, once again, she's the first to be sent home.

Episode 1: Putting the Ingredients to Work

Part two of round one allots each contestant 30 minutes to transform their prepared ingredients into a single dish, and Danushka, who endeavors to "be people's private chefs," opts for "an Asian theme" in her meal of shrimp-stuffed chicken. While Robert praises her for "moist" chicken, he finds some shrimp to be simply raw.

Episode 1: Nutritionally Minded

"This dish keeps you full and primes you for weight loss," Andres says of his "high-protein, body-building meal," featuring a mushroom omelet and shrimp saute. Despite Andres' plan for success, however, Robert finds the omelet and shrimp to be "rubbery" and the chicken overpowered by the taste of red pepper.

Episode 1: Party Plate

Lovely hopes to inspire viewers to "celebrate through their food when everyone comes together," so she's prepared a "celebration" dish of breaded chicken and couscous. Robert struggles to discern the flavor of garlic in her couscous, but the misstep hardly affects her, as her plate is named the most successful of the day.

Episode 1: Another Falls

"The dish was very disappointing to me, and I was so excited. I was wanting to champion you," Robert tells Andres just moments after the latter learns that he won't be continuing in Salvation. "I must not be ready for this yet," Andres reflects after learning his fate.

Episode 2: Viet Makes Three

After being eliminated from Star Episode 5, Viet joins Lovely and Danushka in round two of Salvation. Robert assigns him and the ladies a 20-minute "failed food" challenge in which each must transform unpleasant prepared foods, like mushy vegetables, dry pork chops and burned nuts, into a deliciously impressive meal. "These ingredients need salvation, and so do I," Viet says. Watch the entire second episode online.

Episode 2: From Bad to Glam

Scooping up dry pork chops and mushy carrots from the altar of prepared dishes, Lovely plans to transform the ingredients "from mistake to magic" in her plate of pork croquettes with carrot puree and crunchy burned almonds.

Episode 2: Pork Meets Pate

Danushka chooses to work with mushy broccoli and burned pork chops, turning them into a soup and pate toast, respectively. "I'm a little worried," she admits during the final few minutes of cooking.

Episode 2: Controlled Heat

"Charred for additional flavor," Viet says, of why he's grilling already burned pork chops. He's infuses the flavor of the meat in a stock, which he uses to flavor a creamy carrot-ginger soup. "I actually think it tastes pretty good," Viet reflects. "I can only hope that the journey continues."

Episode 2: Flavor Flop

"There's no flavor," Robert tells Danushka bluntly, after tasting her soup. "There's no punch or wow," he says, although he finds her concept to be "very creative."

Episode 2: Solid Effort

At Viet's station to taste his soup, Robert admits the dish "looks pretty" and that "the carrots are actually nice." Viet tells him, "I did the best I could within 20 minutes, and hopefully you'll be able to see that."

Episode 2: Better Together

Although the flavor of Dijon mustard is a bit overwhelming in Lovely's pork croquette, Robert explains that the flavors and textures of the meat, carrots and nuts complement each other when eaten at once. "The mustard actually balances out in the crunchiness of the nuts and the sugar," he says.

Episode 2: Two to Fall

At this week's double elimination, Viet and Danushka learn that their dreams of stardom have been dashed once again, and they'll be going home this week. Lovely, however, is still standing, and Robert tells her, "I was actually truly impressed that you could create something that good out of all that garbage."

Episode 2: On a Roll

At the end of Episode 2, Lovely is the only finalist standing, now having defeated four of her peers in the race for salvation. Robert commends her on a job well done, but he adds: "It's not over yet. More challenges loom in your future."

Episode 3: Potato, Redux

Chris joins Lovely in Salvation Round 3, and Robert challenges them to make the potato the centerpiece of their dish — just like they did in the Star premiere. This time, however, they're working with crispy, crunchy potato chips instead of fresh spuds, and they have only 20 minutes. "If you want to be saved, I better be amazed," Robert advises them. Watch the entire third episode online.

Episode 3: Chips Meet Bisque

In a loose take on traditional fish and chips, Chris decides to turn potato chips into a creamy bisque and serve the soup with tender smoked salmon and crunchy toasted chips. "It highlights the potatoes, and it's playful," Chris explains confidently of his dish. He is concerned, however, about its potential for being salty, noting, "Chips are already really salty, so I add milk to balance that."

Episode 3: From Savory to Sweet

"I love salty and sweet together, so I'm going to try to make a play off that," Lovely tells Robert. She's making a dessert of sauteed apples with honey mascarpone cream and crumbled chip topping. "It's yummers," she says. "There's no mistaking that potato chips are going to be in this dish."

Episode 3: Vantage Point

To capture the unfolding scene from the best-possible angle, one dedicated cameraman stretches his stance as Chris and Lovely continue cooking in the background.

Episode 3: Challenge Complete

Chris falls to his knees almost immediately after Robert calls time. The first-time Salvation competitor knows that this evaluation will be a make-or-break moment for his future. "If I can beat Lovely today, I am one step closer to salvation," he explains.

Episode 3: Known Issue

After tasting Chris' soup, Robert deems the dish salty, despite Chris' best attempts to minimize the salty taste. Robert nevertheless compliments Chris on his creativity, telling him, "It's a very unusual idea but a cool one." Chris notes later, "I just have to hope now that my dish is better than Lovely's."

Episode 3: Looking for More

Robert agrees with Lovely's belief that her dish is "a party in the mouth," but he questions whether or not the potato chip is the focal point of her offering, as it features the challenge ingredient in a crumble beneath glazed apples. "I'm not sure the potato chip was the star, and ultimately that's what I asked for."

Episode 3: Short-Lived

Although his bisque is indeed "unique," according to Robert, Chris ultimately falls to Lovely in this next-to-last episode of Salvation on account of too-salty soup. Looking back on his brief return to the Food Star Kitchen, he says, "I agree with all of Robert's critiques."

Episode 3: So Close

Having survived three rounds of Robert's Salvation challenges, Lovely is just one episode away from returning to the competition. Despite her experience, however, Lovely's fate isn't sealed, as Robert reminds her that she must outcook a final competitor. "There's one other finalist with the same dream," he warns.

Episode 4: Final Challenger

Eliminated from the on-air competition in Episode 6, Chad joins Lovely in the fourth and final Web series round. After today, one of these two hopefuls will have earned salvation and the right to return to the contest. Watch the entire fourth episode online to see what went down.

Episode 4: Heart and Soul

Robert tells Chad and Lovely, "I want you to cook your heart out," and he provides them with an altar of ingredient "hearts," like artichoke, celery and romaine hearts, plus hearts of palm and goat cheese hearts. They must utilize at least two items, and Robert tells them, "Put your passion on the plate and in your pitch to me."

Episode 4: Party Flavor

"Easy for me. I'm Lovely; I put my heart on a plate every time," Lovely says confidently of this final battle. She's making a salad with hearts of palm and romaine, and she'll dress it up with fried goat cheese and a bacon fat vinaigrette. "It's going to be another party," she says to Robert during cooking.

Episode 4: Bringing the Barbecue

The self-described "Barbecue Guy" maintains his point of view on Salvation, preparing a from-scratch barbecue sauce to top his grilled egg- and artichoke-stuffed peppers, plus a celery and romaine slaw. He tells Robert, "I feel very strong."

Episode 4: Cheese Meltdown

Although Lovely has high hopes for her fried goat cheese hearts, the plan proves to be a misstep, as the cheese fails to turn golden brown. But with just minutes left to cook, she has no choice but to serve the component as-is. "I have to salvage what I can and make the best out of the situation," she explains.

Episode 4: Pepper Problems

For Chad, one of the most demanding elements of his dish is the pepper, which holds the artichoke saute and egg. He's struggling to cook it just right — firm enough to support the filling yet not too rigid. "We will definitely get it," he says optimistically.

Episode 4: Expecting More

"Something went wrong with the fritter, obviously," Robert remarks of Lovely's plate. He admits that her salad boasts "good flavor," but he later deems her dish "disappointing" overall. "You told me you were going to create a mind-blowing experience with a salad," he tells her. "This isn't it."

Episode 4: Good Intentions

After tasting Chad's dish, Robert tells him "the concept is very interesting." But later Robert says, "I just don't think it was executed the way you wanted to execute it." He notes that Chad's barbecue sauce has "good flavor," but the bell pepper is inconsistently cooked.

Episode 4: Saved
