A Crust Above the Rest and a Perfectly Piped Cake
Honeycomb Pie Crust
Roll out your favorite pie dough recipe or store-bought dough on a floured surface. Next, turn your pie dish upside down and press it gently on the dough to make an outline in the crust. Use a small round cutter (or your favorite shaped cookie cutter) to cut out small pieces of dough all over the top crust in a pattern that resembles a honeycomb. You can use the cut-outs for another crust or add them as additional decor along the edges. Once you have cut out the desired number of holes, drape the dough onto your pie, crimp the edges, brush with some egg wash and bake.
Star-Topped Pie Crust
Roll out your favorite pie dough recipe or store-bought dough on a floured surface. Use a star cookie cutter to cut out shapes. We like to use different size star cutters but you can use any seasonal shape you like. Brush the cut-out stars with egg wash and sprinkle with turbinado sugar, then scatter them on the top of your pie. Bake and enjoy!
Petal Cake Frosting
Fill a piping bag fitted with a round tip with frosting and pipe a vertical column of dots up the side of your frosted cake. Using a small offset spatula, push down on the first dot of frosting to create an indent, and then and pull to one side to create a 'petal' effect. Repeat with the remaining dots. Pipe another column right next to the first and repeat the process until the entire cake is covered.
