A Rocky Climb to the Top

Guy chose Dean first to be on his team. In Dean he saw a fighter, but no one could predict Dean would make it to the finale. His journey was a roller coaster of ups and downs and he was nearly eliminated twice. For the longest time, winning the competition appeared hopeless for Team Guy. But Dean proved he could roll with the punches, and in the end he came out on top, victorious.

The Unofficial Team-Guy Leader

From the beginning, Dean led the team through many of the challenges. He was always there to help his teammates through thick and thin, whether it was as small as giving advice or as big as helping to finish a dish.

A Notable Start

In the first episode, Team Guy put on a Wild Wild West theater skit. Dean playing the sheriff couldn't have been a better fit. The dinner guests not only raved about his portrayal of Durango Dean, they loved his food.

Dean's First Elimination Challenge

The grilled lamb and potatoes dish that Dean made during the farm challenge put him in the bottom two. It was hard to compete against his teammate Cornelia, but Dean won the corn cook-off elimination challenge. The next episode would find him in a similar position.

Dean's Second Elimination Challenge

Once again Dean was in the bottom. His tuna melt just wasn't up to the diner guests' expectations. For the elimination challenge, he created a boozy Creamsicle-inspired milk shake that outshined Chilli's more classic creation.

Team Guy Down to 2

After a string of losses, Team Guy was down to just two remaining celebrities by the kids' party challenge. It would be one of Dean's strongest showings because he really understood what the kids wanted. His Dragon Breath Bombs tied him with Team Rachael for the win. Unfortunately Johnny lost to Carnie in the elimination challenge, leaving Dean as the sole member of Team Guy.

Team Guy Down to 1

Guy showed great support for Dean, the last remaining celebrity on his team. The food truck challenge was Dean's toughest battle, because he wasn't sure he could pull off cooking Mexican food, but Guy was there to reassure him he'd pull through.

Dean, the Fighting Machine

Even though Dean wasn't able to serve all the food truck customers, he still prevailed in making the most flavorful food. His tacos won him his first challenge and guaranteed his place in the finale.

Guy's Mentorship

Throughout the competition, Dean sought advice from his team leader, Guy, who was always ready to share his wisdom and encouragement. For the final dinner party challenge, Guy and Dean discussed the vision of Dean's menu, which came down to two key words: elegant and decadent.

Dean Visualized His Victory

Dean never let his focus and determination wane when it came to cooking the dishes he wanted to make for the distinguished dinner guests. His elaborate techniques and execution embodied his cooking style and proved to everyone he was playing to win.

Dean Sought Validation

Winning meant a number of things for Dean. But it went far beyond just a prize or recognition — it was validation that he's on the path to becoming a chef and being able to call himself the Gourmet Dad.

Sharing in the Joy

Dean's kids were overjoyed that their dad had won the competition.

A Charity Close to Dean's Heart

Dr. Sean Daneshmand of Miracle Babies thanks Dean for all that he's done. The charity hits home for Dean because he and his wife, Tori, had been trying to prevent a premature birth with their fourth child. Miracle Babies helps families in need of neonatal intensive care.

Dean's Winning Dive

Dean celebrates with a cooling dive in the pool.

Congratulations, Dean!
