Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off Season 2, Highlights from Episode 2
On the Farm With Rachael and Guy
Rachael and Guy welcome the teams to Underwood Family Farms. The challenge entails showing respect for the ingredients and their source. The teams must act as their own farmers and pick the produce they intend to use in their dishes. And they must cook on grills in an outdoor kitchen. Dinner guests will include 25 of the farm's employees, who will be voting on the dishes.
Team Guy Gets First Pick
Before going to the fields, the contestants must choose their main ingredient from among the options available on the scarecrow. Once an ingredient is chosen, no one else can use it. Since Team Guy had the advantage from last week, they are allowed to make their selections first, leaving pork chops, flank steak and eggplant for Team Rachael to contend with.
Winner Winner Fish Dinner
Since Chilli won the last challenge with her tilapia tostadas, she hopes she can pull off another win by choosing to cook fish again, this time salmon. Guy suggests she grill the fillets on top of cedar planks to lend an additional smoky flavor. She's game even though she's never tried the technique.
Victory Is Finally Ours
Team Rachael has their first win with Hines' flank steak leading them to victory. It's a surprise for Team Guy, whose members all thought their dishes were a shoo-in to win the challenge. This means the two contestants who prepared the least favorite dishes must participate in the blind-tasting challenge to determine who goes home.
A Surprising Bottom Two
The dinner guests found Cornelia's portobello mushrooms to be undercooked and Dean's lamb and potatoes to be underseasoned. Now the two must face off in a 15-minute cook-off using corn as their main ingredient. Cornelia decides to make a salad and Dean decides to make an omelet.
Cornelia Hopes She Can Pull It Off
Cornelia chooses to boil and grill her corn to cover all her bases. Unfortunately the grill gives her a bit of trouble and the cobs catch on fire because she forgot to presoak them. She utilizes any corn that appears to be edible for her salad, finishing the dish the best she can.
Almost Too Close to Call
Rachael and Guy found both Dean's and Cornelia's dishes to be very flavorful, but they decided to send home the celebrity who didn't fully execute the ingredient of corn in their dish. In the end, it was Cornelia's dish that wasn't up to par — some of the kernels of corn weren't cooked enough.
