Pizza Mike's

Each team was given a digital camera to document life on the road and capture behind-the-scenes shots of day-to-day filming, challenges and competitors. Carlo, Mike and Pat of Pizza Mike's snapped photos of each other and fellow competitors during moments of downtime in the race.

Second Chance at Success

For Pizza Mike's namesake, Mike Evans, the opportunity to compete on The Great Food Truck Race was more than just the chance at on-the-road cooking. After losing his prizewinning restaurant to a fire three years ago, he wanted to find a way back into the culinary industry, and a food truck could provide the opportunity to start his business anew.

Mobile Kitchen

Here, Carlo took advantage of the narrow space inside his food truck to chop up bell peppers that eventually would be featured in the team's crowd-pleasing Italian sandwiches.

Signature Sandwich

At each of the three cities Pizza Mike's visited during the race, the team relied on its signature Italian roast beef sandwich, packed with juicy beef, tender peppers and sweet onions.

Embracing Veganism

While the guys of Pizza Mike's were most comfortable serving meaty plates, the team was forced to rethink its menu during the week-two Speed Bump challenge that forced all teams to serve only vegan dishes. Luckily the guys found vegan Italian sausage at the grocery store and used it to top their classic pizza.

Road Trip Pals

Early in the race, Mike joined Hayley, Skye and Jasmin of Barbie Babes for a quick photo before filming began.

Ballpark Special

At the team's final Truck Stop challenge, Pizza Mike's joined the rival teams and set up shop outside the baseball stadium of the Amarillo Sox. Carlo took to grassroots advertising to attract customers to his truck, and soon the guys sold out of their one-and-only menu item: the Italian beef sub.

Catering to the Crowd

Whether the team was serving to big-city customers in Los Angeles or down-home clientele in Amarillo, the guys of Pizza Mike's won rave reviews on their food from buyers throughout the race. The team's dishes proved so popular, in fact, that they drew high enough earnings to secure second-place finishes in both weeks one and two of the competition.

Farewell to Pizza Mike's

Though Amarillo proved to be the end of the road for Pizza Mike's, the team graciously turned in the keys to Tyler. "It's time for me to go home and do what I do best," Mike reflected after the race. "That's be a great father and dad and cook for my family again."
