Carretto Siciliano

Vinny (center), his mom Paola and his uncle Angelo make up the team of Carretto Siciliano.

Carretto Siciliano

On Day 1 of the race, before any team can get their seed money or truck, Tyler has them all eat their way through funnel cakes to find the keys. Vinny's team is the second to finish.

Carretto Siciliano

After a shopping trip, the family members are stocked up on all the staples they need for selling their Italian menu in LA.

Carretto Siciliano

Using his charm and salesmanship, Vinny is always ready to reel in customers.

Carretto Siciliano

Paola prepares a big batch of dough to make zeppole, Italian doughnuts, which she'll toss in powdered sugar after frying.

Carretto Siciliano

The finished zeppole ready to be sold to hungry customers.

Tyler offers up a key spot in Six Flags to the highest bidder. Since his team didn't have the best sales in Hollywood, Vinny takes the risk and bids $400.

Carretto Siciliano

At first sales aren't promising — until Vinny heads out of the truck to mingle with parkgoers, whom he's more than happy to take selfies with.

Carretto Siciliano

Although his family doubted him, Vinny's risk pays off: The team finishes in first place at the end of the weekend, with the most sales.

At the next stop, in Oxnard, Calif., Tyler challenges the teams to use strawberries in sweet and savory ways. Since Ma's got a really good sauce, why not add strawberries to it?

Carretto Siciliano

The sauce actually tastes good, and even though it seems like a challenge to market strawberry-tomato sauce, sales go well.

Carretto Siciliano

At the end of the weekend, Carretto is in second place, holding its own. The team moves on to the next stop, Solvang, Calif.

Before the teams can start selling, Tyler has an egg hunt for them, but not for just any eggs. Paola's worried the ostriches might be intimidated by her hair, but this little one isn't.

Carretto Siciliano

Vinny and his team take on the ostrich egg hunt like pros. Paola even loses her shoe in the process, but like a good son, Vinny comes to assist.

Carretto Siciliano

Tyler challenges everyone to use the eggs in a family dish, so what does Paola make? Spaghetti and meatballs, of course.

Carretto Siciliano

The team's new dish is an immediate hit with customers. Even when Tyler forces the teams to cook using only aebelskiver pans, the members of Carretto roll with the punches and fry the meatballs in the indentations of their pan.

Carretto Siciliano

Since homemade food takes a while to make, Vinny grabs all opportunities to mingle with customers and talk them up so waiting for food isn't so tedious for them.

Carretto Siciliano

Tyler's taste tester calls Paola's meatballs the best he's ever had, and the team is awarded immunity. But they don't even need it, because they land in first place that weekend.

Carretto Siciliano

In Palm Springs, Calif., Tyler has the teams bid on ingredients for a dessert challenge, and Vinny chooses nuts, a decision he soon second-guesses. But his mom comes up with a cheesecake filling topped with nuts that sells itself.

Carretto Siciliano

At the end of the weekend, Carretto comes in second to Grilled Cheese All-Stars, but that's still good enough to get the team into the finale.

Carretto Siciliano

While the teams wait to have their trucks shipped to Catalina Island, Tyler has them set up as hot dog carts in San Pedro, Calif. The two teams compete for customers.

Carretto Siciliano

Paola comes up with a sausage-and-peppers-style hot dog. To save on time, the team members deep-fry the onions and bell peppers. Unfortunately, they don't win the challenge, getting to Catalina Island an hour after the cheese guys do.

Carretto Siciliano

On the island, Vinny wastes no time in rounding up customers despite not having food ready to sell. He promises to pose for photos with everyone.

Carretto Siciliano

Both teams are selling to the same crowd. Even Paola comes out of the truck to entice customers with samples, luring them away from the cheese guys.

Carretto Siciliano

When all is tallied up, Grilled Cheese All-Stars wins the race by just $207. Even though the members of Carretto Siciliano don't leave with the $50,000 prize, they leave with family memories that will last forever.
