Arts and Crafts Class: Food Crafts

Get creative when packing lunch for your kids. We'll show you how to make lunch box crafts that are almost too cute to eat!

Eggcellent Mouse:

Cut a thin slice off the long side of a hard-boiled egg to make a flat base and set the egg down on the flat side. Cut 2 slits in the top of the more pointed, narrow end where ears would be, then insert 2 thin carrot coins in the slits to make ears. Cut a slice of American cheese into a triangle and poke holes in it with a straw. To make the nose and tail, stick a toothpick through the center of the egg and attach 1 cutout from the cheese to either end.  Mark 2 x's on the egg where you want the eyes, then insert 2 small pieces of black olive in the x's. Make large slits near the nose and mouth and insert 3 shreds of carrot on each side to look like whiskers. Cut the crust off of 1 slice of bread to make a square, then put the cheese triangle with holes on the bread. Place the egg mouse on top of the bread next to the cheese.

You'll need:

  • 1 hard-boiled egg
  • Paring knife
  • 2 carrot coins
  • 1 slice American Cheese
  • 1 straw
  • 1 toothpick
  • 2 black olive pieces
  • 6 pieces shredded carrots
  • 1 slice bread

Olive and Cheese Bee:

Cut an olive into 3 slices, then cut 2 slices from a cheese stick. Stack the cheese and olive slices on a toothpick with the ends of the olive on the top and bottom. Dip another toothpick into cream cheese and dot 2 eyes on the top olive slice. Cut 2 more slices from the cheese stick. To make wings, attach them to the back of the olive and cheese stack using cream cheese.

You'll need:

  • Paring knife
  • 1 olive
  • 1 cheese stick
  • 2 toothpicks
  • Cream cheese

Apple Turtle:

Cut off the top third of a green apple and lay it on a plate cut-side down. Slice 2 grapes in half and attach them to the apple with toothpicks to make front and back legs. Stick a whole grape in between the front legs with a toothpick to make a head. Stick 2 chocolate chips into the whole grape to create eyes.

You'll need:

  • Knife
  • 1 green apple
  • 3 grapes
  • 5 toothpicks
  • 2 chocolate chips

Owl Love Dessert:

Coat 1 square of graham cracker in chocolate frosting. Next, split 2 chocolate sandwich cookies in half, keeping the halves with the frosting. Attach these to the top of the graham cracker to create eyes. Add 1 blueberry to each cookie to make pupils. Using the frosting as paste, attach sliced strawberries with the flesh side up to look like wings. Use a piece of candy corn to create the nose.

Ingredients:

  • 1 graham cracker square
  • Chocolate frosting
  • 2 chocolate sandwich cookies
  • 2 blueberries
  • Knife
  • 2 strawberries
  • 1 piece candy corn
