The Kitchen Summer Games

Entertain guests of all ages at your next summer party by setting up your own obstacle course right in your back yard!

Sunny set up our obstacle course with 3 events:

1) Spoon Balance: Inflate circular pool toys and create a course for your competitors to run through. We used inflatable pretzel pool toys, but use any shape or toy people can stand in the middle of. Have each competitor place a spoon in his or her mouth and balance a lime on the end of it. You could also use eggs or another round fruit, but limes make for easy clean up. Have them run through the course without letting the lime fall off the spoon--if it drops, they need to pick it up, reset it and start from the beginning of the course.

2) Bobbing for Doughnuts: Hang up a horizontal string about a foot taller than your shortest competitor. Cut pieces of string about a foot long and tie a doughnut to the end of each one. Tie the free end of each string with a doughnut to the horizontal string about a foot apart so people don't run into each other. Have your competitors eat the doughnuts off the strings without touching them with their hands.

3) Marshmallow Archery: We finished our games with marshmallow archery. Bake or use store-bought cookie cakes as targets. We frosted a target pattern onto the top of each one using marshmallow cream dyed with food coloring to ensure the marshmallow "arrows" would stick. We purchased a marshmallow bow online and used it to fire mini marshmallows at the targets until 5 stuck. You could do the same by throwing the marshmallows at the targets.

The person who completes all the events in the least amount of time is the winner!
