Cookie Packaging

For a fun and memorable gift presentation, try wrapping your holiday cookies in one of the following ways.

Chip Can:
Clean out an empty chip can. Cut out festive wrapping paper to fit around the can and secure it with double-stick tape. Fill the can with a stack of your favorite cookies, separated by parchment or wax paper.

Coffee Can:
Peel off the label from an empty, clean, metal coffee can. Using hot glue, attach a thick red ribbon with white trim (about 2 inches wide) around the middle of the can. Attach a thinner brown ribbon (about 1/2 inch wide) onto the red ribbon, near the middle of the band (to make a belt). Cut a gold buckle out of craft paper and glue it onto the brown ribbon. Stack your cookies inside, separated by parchment or wax paper.

Paper Plate Cookie Holder:
Using a plain white paper plate, make 2 parallel creases about an inch apart at the center of the plate. Make 2 creases perpendicular to these lines, about 2 inches from the rim of the plate on each end, approximately at the inner edge of the fluted edge of the plate. Cut 4 slits, 2 on each end of the plate, along the first 2 folds, running from the edge of the plate to the point where the folds intersect.

Fold the plate along the first folds to form a half-circle shape on either side of your cookie package, with a 1-inch flat bottom. Fold the cut tabs upward and tuck the edges of your half-circles inside of these tabs. Tape to secure. Tie a ribbon around the cookie holder. Line with wax paper and fill with your favorite cookies!

Water Bottle:
Choose a water bottle with as few ridges or indents as possible and peel off the label; wash and dry it thoroughly. Draw a line around the bottle near the top and cut off the top with a knife or scissors. Fill with your favorite cookies. Top with an upside-down cupcake liner and secure with a rubber band and ribbon.

Ornament Cookie Kit:
Use a box of clear, plastic, round ornaments that come in a box with an insert for the ornaments (find at a craft store). Using a funnel, fill the ornaments with assorted sprinkles and colored candies. Put the ornaments back into their spots in the box insert. Fill a small glass or plastic jar (one that will fit into an ornament spot) with white icing and put it in one of the ornament spots. Wrap stacks of small sugar cookies in plastic wrap and add these to the remaining ornament spots. Put the insert back into the box and give as a holiday gift!
