Get creative this Halloween with fun and easy food-inspired Halloween costumes that you can make at home!

Green Goddess Costume:

You will need:

  • Fake lettuce leaves and tomatoes from a craft store
  • Long piece of thick ribbon or sash
  • Hot glue gun
  • Headband
  • Red marbles, optional
  • Green or white maxi dress
  • Gold rope
  1. Glue fake lettuce leaves onto a sash or ribbon with a hot glue gun.
  2. Once that dries, glue a few fake tomatoes onto the lettuce leaves.
  3. While the tomatoes dry, cut the leftover fake lettuce into small pieces and glue them onto a headband. You can also glue red marbles to the headband to mimic small tomatoes. (We colored small ping-pong balls red…any small red ball will do!)
  4. When your sash and headband are dry, put on the maxi dress, place the sash/ribbon around your body and put on your headband.
  5. Wrap the gold rope twice around your waist.

Bread Winner Costume:

You will need:

  • Marker
  • Large piece of sturdy cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Large piece of foam core
  • Serrated knife
  • Hot glue gun
  • Burlap (or a sturdy brown fabric)
  • Gold medal
  1. Draw the shape of a slice of bread with a marker onto a piece of cardboard. It should be about 6 inches wider and longer than the size of your head.
  2. Draw a circle in the center of the cardboard template that's the size of your head (this is literally where your head will go!).
  3. Cut out the slice of bread and cut out the hole in the middle.
  4. Using the cardboard template, trace the bread slice onto the foam core with a marker.
  5. Cut out the bread outline and head hole in the middle on the foam core with a serrated knife (it's much easier than scissors!).
  6. Using a hot glue gun, glue burlap or brown fabric around the end of the foam core bread slice to mimic the crust.
  7. Place a gold medal around your neck and put you head through the hole in the middle of the bread slice.

"Bendito" or "Holy" Guacamole Costume:

You will need:

  • Large piece of foam board
  • Marker
  • Scissors
  • Light and dark green crafting paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Ribbon
  • Hot glue gun
  • Brown shirt
  • Store-bought angel wings and halo
  1. Free-form draw the shape of a large avocado onto foam board with a marker. It should measure from the bottom of your chin to just below your waist.
  2. Draw a circle in the center where the avocado pit would go.
  3. Cut out the shape of the avocado and the pit.
  4. Paint the avocado light green. Once that dries, paint a dark green outline along the outer rim.
  5. Once your cutout dries, glue a piece of ribbon onto the top of the avocado with a hot glue gun and wrap it around your neck to measure. The avocado costume will secure around your neck. Once you have the desired length, glue the other side of the ribbon to the avocado so that when you're done making the costume, it just slips over your head!
  6. Glue 2 separate pieces of ribbon to the wide part of the avocado. These ribbons will tie behind your back for extra support.
  7. Put on a brown shirt. Your stomach will act as the "pit."
  8. Put on store-bought angel wings.
  9. Slip the avocado costume over your neck and tie it around your waist.
  10. Put on a store-bought halo for a finishing touch.

Candy Rapper Costume:

You will need:

  • Upholstery needle
  • Gumballs
  • String
  • Scissors
  • Large lollipop
  • Gardening shears, optional
  • Twist ties
  • Jelly beans
  • Large baseball hat
  • Hot glue gun
  • Bright-colored hoodie
  • Candy rings and necklaces
  • Large sunglasses
  1. Start by making your candy chain. Using the upholstery needle, thread gumballs onto string until you reach the desired length of your chain. It should hang to the middle of your stomach. Cut the string and tie together.
  2. Cut off the stick of a lollipop but leave about 2 inches remaining. (Depending on the width of the stick, you may need to use gardening shears to cut through.)
  3. Wrap twist tie around the remaining part of the lollipop stick and secure it to the center of your gumball chain.
  4. Glue jelly beans all over a baseball cap using a hot glue gun.
  5. While your cap dries, put on a bright-colored hoodie, candy rings and candy necklaces. (Wrap candy necklaces around your wrists to make great bracelets.)
  6. Complete the look with your gumball chain and sunglasses.
