Popular throughout India, the Middle East and Pakistan, sharbat is a cold, sweet nonalcoholic drink flavored variously with ingredients that can range from fruit juice to nuts to flower petals. The texture of sharbat can range from thin to so thick it can be eaten with a spoon. The word sharbat is the foundation of present-day sherbet.
