How to Bake Sweet Potatoes

This Thanksgiving staple comes together with just a few steps.

By Monica Bhide

Prep the Potatoes

Heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly (scrub with a brush) and dry them.

Poke with a Fork

Poke them with a fork to make a few holes so steam can escape during baking. (This keeps them from exploding.)

Ready for the Oven

Place them on the baking sheet.

Bake and Flip

Bake for 30 minutes, then flip them over. Bake for another 30 minutes or until the skin feels crisp and the inside is soft and cooked through. The sweet potato will “leak” some liquid.

Serve

Serve hot with your favorite toppings. Try this technique with our favorite sweet potato recipes.
