Pie is the ultimate Thanksgiving dessert, but making one from scratch can be a feat, especially if you've never done it before. Determining what kind of crust you want your pie to have is critical. So is putting together a delicious filling and weaving together an impressive lattice topping. It can be a lot, but it's a task that's completely manageable too. Whether this is your very first time making a homemade pie crust, or you're just looking to streamline your own holiday baking process a bit more, this step-by-step guide from Food Network Magazine is a great resource to have on hand. From primping and crimping to folding and weaving, here's everything you need to make a buttery, flakey and delicious crust and pie this Thanksgiving.

Step 1: Roll Out, Chill and Cut the Dough

Roll out 1 disk of dough into a 12-inch round on a lightly floured surface; chill 30 minutes. Starting from the center, cut into 14 to 16 half-inch strips (you won't need the end pieces).

Step 2: Lay the Dough Out

Tear off a large piece of parchment paper. Lay every other strip horizontally on the parchment, about 1/2 inch apart.

Step 3: Fold Back the Dough

Gently fold back every other strip halfway.

Step 4: Overlap the Dough

Lay the longest remaining strip perpendicular to the strips on the parchment.

Step 5: Unfold the Dough

Unfold the folded strips to cover the vertical strip.

Step 6: Fold the Dough Again

Fold back the strips on the parchment that were not folded before.

Step 7: Weave Your Lattice

Add another vertical strip. Continue to weave in 1 or 2 more strips, then repeat on the other side to make a full lattice. Slide the parchment onto a baking sheet; chill 30 minutes.

Step 8: Top Your Pie

Slide the lattice onto your pie. Trim the strips if needed, leaving a 1-inch overhang, then fold the overhanging dough under itself.

Step 9: Dig In and Enjoy!
