Stop What You’re Doing and Eat a Tomato

See Ina's amazing harvest and get ideas on how to highlight the flavor of summer tomatoes.

Have gorgeous red, glowing orange, lime-green and shocking purple tomatoes taken over your Instagram page? It’s that time of year again. Truly good tomatoes ripen in late summer, and they make tomatoes eaten any other time pale in comparison. Run, don’t walk, to your nearest farmers market (or your nearest grocery store) to comb through these beauties. Here are four ways the FN stars are enjoying them this season.

1. Offset their sweetness with a runny cheese like burrata.

Ina’s harvest is particularly spectacular – look at all those colors! She enjoys this rainbow bounty with runny burrata, fresh basil, a drizzle of aged balsamic, good olive oil and a sprinkling of fleur de sel.

2. Mix them with fresh fruit and a peppery green.

Amanda tosses fresh tomatoes with nectarines, figs, fresh ricotta, arugula and lemon balm.

3. Don’t skimp!

Marc piles multicolored fresh tomatoes in the center of this basil-flecked mozzarella sun.

4. Serve them with grilled food.

Katie skewers tomatoes and gives them a quick char. They will burst in your mouth with sweetness.

5. Let them speak for themselves.

Here's one more epic shot from Ina's garden.

It doesn't get fresher than that.
