End-of-Summer Swigs You'll Want to Make by the Pitcher

Summer is sadly on its way out, and the only logical reaction we have to this conclusion is to raise a glass. But don’t do it alone — toast the season’s end with a crew, and serve any one of our favorite big-batch drinks.

Grab your pitcher by the handle to house Bobby Flay’s zippy, refreshing and crowd-sized Mojito Limeade. Once it’s poured into everyone’s glasses, this triple dose of lime (muddled in with the mint leaves, stirred into a minty syrup, and poured in with the rum and club soda) will electrify the senses.

Knocking back a swig of summer could be as easy as cracking open a cold beer. Giada De Laurentiis does that — and then some. For her fruity Ginger-Peach Beach Cooler, stir peach nectar and fresh summer peaches with light beer and a ginger-infused simple syrup; you’ll have a super-easy cocktail that’s made for a crowd.

Pour two bottles of red Spanish wine, a cup of brandy and some triple sec into a pitcher, and give the blend a fruity surge of orange and pomegranate juices for Bobby’s top-rated Red Wine Sangria. After adding orange and apple slices, juicy berries and pomegranate seeds to the mix, he lets the mixture sit for at least 24 hours so the flavors can really meld together.

If your take on summertime refreshment leans more toward crisp whites and rosés, Rachael Ray’s juicy White Sangria is your best bet. Like Bobby’s sangria, it benefits from sitting for a few hours so the apple, lime, peach and raspberry flavors can shine through, so assemble it in the morning before it’s time for drinking.

The Summer Olympics may have concluded, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop drinking like you’re in Brazil. Make a big batch of Brazil’s national drink, the Caipirinha, with the authentic ingredients: sugar, lime and cachaca (distilled sugarcane juice).
