Anne Burrell hosted a high-energy happy hour at The Standard Biergarten, kicking off the second night of the New York City Wine & Food Festival. Eventgoers sipped on sparkling wine cocktails and sampled tapas-style bites from local restaurants in the outdoor biergarten, the perfect setting for a warm fall evening. Here are some of our favorites from the dozens of options.

Cheese Spread — Murray’s Cheese

Several different types of cheese, a savory boar salami, some olives and baked cheese sticks drew long lines around the cheese empire’s stand throughout the entire event.

Pintxos Morunos — Boqueria

Tender lamb skewers paired with pickled shallots and a bright salsa verde were a fan favorite — luckily the chefs were able to keep up with demand of the hungry attendees.

Sangria Skirt Steak — Little Owl

Red-wine sangria-marinated skirt steak paired perfectly with crispy dressed lettuce for a scrumptious bite that had guests coming back for seconds and thirds.

Salmon Pastrami — The Stanton Social

For tons of classic New York flavors in bite-size portions, eventgoers reached for house-cured salmon pastrami, horseradish cream cheese and pickled mustard seeds atop crispy rye toast.

Tuna “Crudo” — Barraca

We heard several guests oohing and aahing at the complex flavors delivered in the melt-in-your-mouth raw bluefin tuna paired with briny fried capers, black truffle aioli and crunchy garlic chips.

Eggplant, Goat Cheese and Honey Crostini — Huertas

Roasted eggplant with silky goat cream cheese topped with honey made for a bite that straddled the line between sweet and savory; it was perfectly scrumptious.

White chocolate truffles filled with yuzu and sansho, a citrus-flavored Japanese spice, were the perfect sweet bites to round out an evening of decadence.
