Krispy Kreme Holiday Lineup Includes an Ugly Sweater Doughnut
Also one that looks like Santa’s belly and another with a holiday-plaid theme.
Nothing says “happy holidays” like an ugly Christmas sweater … doughnut?
Krispy Kreme has introduced its 2018 lineup of limited-edition holiday doughnuts, available across the United States and Canada until Dec. 24, and honestly, they’re all pretty cute. But the most adorable of all has to be the chain’s winkingly whimsical Ugly Sweater Doughnuts, which are a frosted fried-dough version of those hideous holiday tops your grandma used to wear and kids today like to don with an ironic, Santa-like twinkle in their eyes.
A doughnut “dipped in green icing, sprinkled with confetti and decorated with over-the-top reindeer and penguin candy pieces,” the new Ugly Sweater Doughnut is a flavorful, fun “take on the festive ugly sweater trend,” according to Krispy Kreme.
The chain is also offering its traditional Santa Belly Doughnut, a chocolate-cream-filled doughnut shell that has been “dipped in red icing and decorated to look like Santa’s jolly belly”; a Holiday Plaid Doughnut, a glazed confection “dipped in icing and decorated in a fun red and green plaid design”; and a Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles Doughnut, which is a chocolate-iced doughnut adorned with green, red and white sprinkles … because Christmas.
To wash it all down, a special seasonal beverage -- Peppermint Mocha – is also on the menu. The drink, which can be ordered hot, iced or frozen, features a mix of espresso, chocolate and peppermint, topped with whipped cream and miniature chocolate chips.
“This year’s deliciously festive collection is our way of bringing a little tasty fun and whimsy to our consumers during the hectic holiday season,” Alison Holder, Krispy Kreme’s vice president of U.S. retail marketing, said in a press release.
A box of Christmas-themed doughnuts also seems like a great thing for people who are too lazy to bake their own cookies to bring to all those holiday parties that are about to crowd your calendar. Dough not say you weren’t offered a perfectly good option.
