The Friends Cast Ate the Same Lunch Every … Single … Day
It was a Cobb salad that 'wasn’t really a Cobb salad.'

You’d think that by now, 14 years after Friends went off the air (following 10 seasons on it and endless continuing opportunities to watch it), you’d know all there is to know about the show, that the new revelations would finally dry up. But no. Just this month, the show’s production designer, John Shaffner, shared why Monica’s apartment was painted purple: It was a deliberate attempt to pull viewers in.
"Color is really important in terms of establishing the show identity," Shaffner told Great Big Story. "When you switched to ‘Friends,’ you saw that it was purple and you stayed tuned."
Interesting. But here’s another secret about "Friends" you may not know. This one is about the color green, as in salad, as in that’s what the female "Friends" cast members ate for lunch every day.
The same salad. Every. Single. Day.
We know this because Courtney Cox said so — in a 2010 interview with the Los Angeles Times that was recently resurfaced by Spoon University, an online food publication by and for college students.
"Jennifer and Lisa [Kudrow] and I ate lunch together every single day for 10 years. And we always had the same thing — a Cobb salad," Cox said. "But it wasn't really a Cobb salad. It was a Cobb salad that Jennifer doctored up with turkey bacon and garbanzo beans and I don't know what."
Cox said Aniston "just has a way with food, which really helps. Because if you're going to eat the same salad every day for 10 years, it'd better be a good salad, right?"
Right.
