Taylor Swift Offered BFF Selena Gomez a Long-Distance Birthday Cake
But who knows who ate it?
What do you do when your BFF celebrates a birthday and you’re miles away? Sure, you could call or text, but if you’re Taylor Swift, you go one step further. You bake your bestie a cake – even if she isn’t close enough to eat it.
To celebrate Selena Gomez’s 26th birthday last week, Swift posted a photo on her Instagram Stories of a (gorgeous, delicate) pink-frosted birthday cake with a punny message written in white piping: “Gomez or Go Home.” The sprinkle-dappled cake also featured a heart with a big “26” written inside.
Never mind that the two pals were on opposite coasts.
And then there was the caption: “Will I let distance stop me from celebrating my best friend’s bday?” she wrote in black letters and then answered below in white: “I MEAN I COULD BUT WHY WOULD I WANT 2.”
That last line is, of course, a reference to Gomez’s song “Hands to Myself.”
Still, don’t feel too sad for Gomez. She may not have been able to eat Swift’s pretty, pretty cake, but she was able to celebrate with a bunch of other pals and a bunch of other foods. Friend and fellow singer Grace VanderWaal presented Gomez with “Happy Birthday” cupcakes in a backstage birthday surprise. And Gomez rang in her 26th year with a party on a yacht with an impressive pasta buffet as well.
Also she has a friend who not only offers her long-distance cakes, but also sends her love and pays tribute to her as “the person I could call at any time of day, who has been there no matter what.”
That’s way sweeter than baked goods, right?
