KFC’s Gravy Candle Is the Best Thing You Can’t Have

It’s available only to 230 lucky winners in the U.K. and Ireland, so the rest of will just have to use our imaginations.

Baby, baby, make your house smell like gravy.

KFC is setting hearts afire and appetites aflame with its latest stunt product: A KFC-gravy-scented candle.

“Nothing beats the sweet, soulful aroma of KFC gravy,” KFC asserted on its website, adding that the limited-edition KFC Gravy Candle will “fill your home with Finger Lickin’ good vibes.”

Alas, the opportunity to enjoy the smell of gravy wafting from wax and wick will be available only to 230 lucky winners selected at random from among those who enter a sweepstakes on the website for KFC Great Britain. The official rules underscore that the sweepstakes is open only to residents of the U.K. and Ireland.

Sigh.

“You're not dreaming. You really can now fill your home with the incredible aroma of KFC gravy with this limited-edition candle,” a KFC spokesperson told the press. “It's staggeringly nose stimulating.”

They taunt. They tease. And who knows if this candle emits the same aroma as the KFC Scented Candle the Colonel’s people released in New Zealand a few years back?

Mercifully, KFC may have provided a necessary balm for anyone getting all worked up about not being able to get their hands on a gravy-scented candle: The KFC Gravy Mega Box, which is to ears as a gravy candle is to noses.

A part of KFC’s overarching KFChill promotion that is, unlike the candles (and KFC’s previously released and equally elusive bath bombs and fire logs), accessible to all, the KFC Gravy Mega Box encourages KFC fans to “immerse” themselves in the sounds of chicken frying, fries falling and gravy simmering.

The frying sound, in particular, is surprising calming.
