He may be a golf pro, but Tiger Woods might also have a future in competitive eating.
While visiting Mexico City for the World Golf Championship, the athlete told GOLFTV that he eats a staggering number of meals each day.
“If I’m at home, I’ll eat five to seven meals in a day,” Woods said. “I struggle with keeping my weight up, so if I don’t eat enough, I typically lose weight very quickly.”
And, believe it or not, his food intake has increased while traveling in Mexico, with Woods joking that he was ‘hangry’ on the way back to his hotel.
“I’m starving,” Woods said. “For some reason, I don’t know what it is, but this altitude, I’ve been starving. I’ve been eating so much food and just so hungry all the time. I’m just blowing through food in the (golf) bag and at the hotel I’m famished all the time. I eat in the middle of the night — I’m always hungry.”
What does he reach for when his stomach his growling?
“Steak and potatoes,” Woods said. “Just like my dad — steak, potatoes and a little bit of black pepper.”
But it’s not all meat and potatoes for the pro athlete, who underwent a fourth spinal fusion surgery in April 2017. As he returns to golf, Woods said his diet has become “way more strict.”
“Just trying to keep the inflammation down and trying to stay as fit as possible,” he said. “It sucks getting older.”
We hear you, Tiger.
