Anne Hathaway Scrapped Her Vegan Diet Due to Matt Damon
One bite of salmon and her brain "felt like a computer rebooting," she said.
Amidst all the celebrities touting veganism as the key to feeling amazing and living a fabulous life, an A-lister voice has risen to offer a counterpoint: Anne Hathaway says that, after years of being a vegan, she gave it up a few years ago and instantly felt better.
It happened, the actress recently revealed in a cover interview with Tatler, while she was in Iceland, shooting the 2014 film “Interstellar” with Matt Damon. She and Damon went out to a Michelin-starred restaurant with Hathaway’s husband, Adam Shulman. Damon gamely declared that he’d be happy to eat whatever the chef wished to serve him.
“So then I was the only chick and I’m the vegan and everyone’s just going with the flow. So I asked … ‘Is your fish local?’” she recalled. “And they said: ‘Do you see that fjord?’ So I had a piece of salmon and my brain felt like a computer rebooting.”
An animal-product-eschewing diet is not the only thing Hathaway stopped consuming. Around the time she chucked veganism, Hathaway also gave up alcohol, she said, explaining that she just enjoyed drinking too much and wasn’t able to consume it in moderation.
“I will never be that person who can nurse a glass of wine throughout an entire evening,” she said.
So bring on the brain-rebooting salmon, hold the booze, and good on Hathaway for knowing her limits.
