Lunchables Now Come in Brunch Form
This is not a joke.
Many children of the ‘90s who chowed down on Lunchables during their school years have now grown up and joined the brunch set. Kraft Heinz is counting on their hunger for the past with the launch of its new breakfast snack packs: Lunchables Brunchables.
On April 1, the company tweeted out an image of the new product, prompting natural speculation that it was an April Fools’ Day joke.
“I know this is an April Fools joke, and I am NOT AMUSED,” wrote one bemused commenter.
“You may be joking but I would buy this,” another Lunchables fan weighed in.
“imagine putting a genius idea out as an april fools prank.....,” marveled a third.
“Please don’t tell me this is an April Fools joke because it looks too good to be true!” begged yet another.
“You better make this joke into reality,” demanded one woman.
One day later, on April 2, the company confirmed that the launch of Lunchables Brunchables – a DIY breakfast sandwich pack with ready-to-eat strips of bacon, slices of cheese, pieces of flatbread and a mini blueberry muffin -- was no joke. Priced at $1.99 per pack, the breakfast packets will arrive in “select” stores nationwide this month.
“For years we’ve seen fans ask whether or not Lunchables would create a breakfast version,” Zach Meyers, director of marketing at Kraft Heinz, said in a product announcement. “We’re excited to finally unveil Brunchables, an exciting new choice at breakfast that helps start kids’ days off right.”
Brunchables will be available in three varieties: Bacon & Cheese, Breakfast Ham & Cheese and Breakfast Sausage & Cheese. (Sorry, vegetarians …)
Who’s bringing the mimosas?
