Sonic Is Amping Up Springtime with Red Bull Slushes
Hope you weren’t planning to sleep through the season.
No … sleep … till summer? Sonic is looking to amp up your spring season. The drive-in fast-food chain has teamed up with energy-drink maker Red Bull to introduce Red Bull Slushes.
Available in two flavors – a Red Bull Slush and a subtler Cherry Limeade Red Bull Slush – the frozen drinks will be offered at all 3,600 Sonic locations nationwide. And if slushes aren’t your thing, Sonic is selling regular cans of Red Bull as well.
The drinks will be make their debut on April 29 and be available only through June. If you order ahead on the Sonic app, you get your Red Bull slushes (but not the cans) for half price.
The slushes are available in different sizes, ranging in price from $2.99 to $4.99, with the amount of Red Bull they contain proportional to the cup size. The largest size – a 44-ounce Slush -- contains a full can of Red Bull, CNBC reports, so Sonic, which last year made us all pucker up with its Pickle Juice Slushes, is not joking around about the boost factor. (Probably the people suggesting adding vodka to the drinks are not joking around either.)
Something tells me there are going to be a lot of Sonic customers revving their engines this season. Just hope they wait to spike the drinks till after they drive home.
