The clamoring across these states of ours for the Stroopwafel McFlurry will soon end – and end well, if, perhaps, temporarily. McDonald’s has announced that it is bringing four items that are popular on its international menus to the United States this summer. So you can see the world -- or, OK, maybe that’s an overstatement – without leaving the country.

The point is that we Americans can spend our summer enjoying a Stroopwafel McFlurry (vanilla soft serve ice cream with caramel swirl and “authentic chopped Dutch Daelmans Stroopwafel caramel waffle cookie pieces” mixed in) just like McDonald’s goers in The Netherlands do. (Stroop, Stroop, Hooray!)

We can also avail ourselves of the Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger (a quarter-pound beef burger “with thick cut Applewood smoked bacon, smoky McBacon Sauce, real Gouda cheese and slivered onions served on a freshly toasted sesame seed bun”) that Spanish McD’s eaters also enjoy; the Tomato Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich (grilled or crispy chicken “topped with tomato & herb sauce, creamy mozzarella cheese, slivered onions, fresh lettuce and sliced Roma tomatoes served on a freshly toasted artisan roll”) that is popular with Canadians; and Cheesy Bacon Fries, an Australian menu item that was offered in the U.S. previously this year (January through March) as part of McDonald’s bacon promotion.

All four of the generally new-to-us menu items will be available for a limited time at participating U.S. McDonald’s locations starting on June 5.

“We know our U.S. customers are curious about McDonald’s international menu items,” Linda VanGosen, McDonald’s vice president of menu innovation, said in a press release. “Because we are always innovating our menu, we are thrilled to leverage our global scale and offer popular flavors from around the world next month.”

It is the first time McDonald’s has made a point of featuring international menu items at locations nationwide, although the chain routinely offers a rotating roster of international McD’s menu items at its flagship location in Chicago.

Considering that McDonald’s in France offer a Blue Cheese & Bacon Burger, in India a McAloo Tikki (a veggie patty with Indian spices), and in Italy Brioches filled with cocoa, cream or jam, we kinda hope it’s not the last time.
