Last night at the 2019 Daytime Emmy Awards, Valerie Bertinelli took home two golden statuettes, one for Outstanding Culinary Program and one for Outstanding Culinary Host. Valerie let out an exclamation of shock when her show, Valerie’s Home Cooking, won Outstanding Culinary Program and was visibly moved when she later won for Outstanding Culinary Host.

Valerie's approachable cooking style is heavily influenced by family recipes, many passed down from one generation to the next, but she always adds her own modern touch. The wins couldn’t have come at a better time as the 9th season of Valerie’s Home Cooking premieres this Sunday. In the first episode, she is honoring her beloved grandmother, Nonnie, who was one of her greatest cooking influences. She's celebrating that connection by preparing favorite dishes from childhood — with a dash of her own personal style.
