You Missed Your Chance to Buy a Travis Scott-Designed Reese’s Puffs Cereal Box for $50
And when you learn they’re now selling for nearly $150, you may be even more bummed.
Gone in 30 seconds – that’s what happened after Travis Scott and General Mills collaborated to release a special-edition box of Reese’s Puffs cereal designed by the rapper. (Scott is reportedly a big fan of Reese’s Puffs.)
Hypebeasts were apparently super hungry for the shiny limited-edition cereal boxes that melded Reese’s Puffs imagery with visuals that evoked Scott and his Cactus Jack label, including a cactus and a Scott action figure holding a giant spoon. Fans snapped up every single box – at $50 a pop -- half a minute after they became available on Tuesday afternoon. It was first come, first served online -- and plenty of would-be buyers came away empty-handed.
The cereal’s Paris pop-up-shop debut featured an installation bearing the messages “Enjoy Today” and “Don’t Cry Over Spilt Milk,” both of which took on an added poignancy due to the insta sell-out. Those messages were also featured in a limited-edition cereal bowl and spoon designed by Scott, which also sold out moments after they were offered for sale.
If you’re seriously itching to get your hands on one of the collaborative cereal boxes or bowls or spoons, well, don’t cry over spilt milk: You may yet have a chance.
There’s also eBay, where you can get your hands on a cereal bowl, which was originally sold for $20 plus shipping, for $79.99; or a cereal spoon, originally available for $10, for $30 (or more); or one of the cereal boxes, encased in acrylic, for just shy of $149.99.
And you thought $50 for a box of cereal was outrageous.
