He issued a plea and you better Belieb Popsicle listened.

Remember double-stick Popsicles? They used to be a summer childhood staple, but at some point (apparently in May 1986, amidst complaints that they were too “messy”), when most of us weren’t paying attention, they went away, replaced by those lonely-looking slender single-stick kinds you get nowadays.

Well, guess what? Now double Popsicles may be coming back, and apparently some of the credit for their return goes to Justin Bieber and his manager, Scooter Braun, to credit for it.

“Talking with @scooterbraun and we just realized we can’t find double stick popsicles!!” the Biebs tweeted in late May, anticipating, one imagines, hot, sunny days and icy treats that provide respite. “This is crazy. @Popsicle we need those back!”

Braun echoed his client’s plea on Instagram, writing, "Tonight @justinbieber mentioned to me they don’t sell double stick popsicles anymore. I couldn’t believe it. But after searching amazon and other websites I found the game had changed. Single stick popsicles is all I found. This is an outrage!!! We need double stick back!!! HELP!”

More than 75,000 people have “liked” Braun’s Instagram post. Bieber’s tweet, meanwhile, was liked more than 58,000 times and generated more than 9,000 retweets, as well as a response, the very next day, from Popsicle itself.

“We can’t Beliebe you’re a fan @justinbieber … We’ll see what we can do for you and @scooterbraun. Who else misses our original Double Pop?” the official Popsicle Twitter account wrote back, alongside a throwback photo of a kid eating an orange Popsicle with two sticks.

Apparently Popsicle wasn’t kidding. On July 12, the company teased that it was “having the double the fun” and “working on” something it was keeping on the DL in its test kitchen.

Then, on July 16, the world learned what that secret(ish) product was when Popsicle tweeted, “Hey @justinbieber – you asked where are the @Popsicle Double Pops? Well, you better belieb we made a special batch just for you and@scooterbraun! They’re coming in hot… well, cold actually, because you know… Popsicle!”

Credit Popsicle with knowing when to ride a social media wave when it rolls its way – and making the most of it. The company has issued a challenge, telling readers that if its bring-back-the-double post is retweeted 100,000 times, it will “bring back the Double Pop fun for everyone.” The results will be announced on July 23. “Who’s in?” the company asked.

Only two days in, with five more to go, we’re more than one third of the way there: The post has been retweeted more than 37,000 times.

“EVERYONE SAY THANK YOU JUSTIN,” one retweeter demanded. Many complied.

And Bieber? Well, he seems to be pressing his luck, albeit politely.

“We need the original banana flavor please,” he wrote.

His wish is … er, “fruity dreams” are … Popsicle’s command.
