You Can Thank Chance the Rapper for Your Spicy Nuggets
Well, him and two million other people.

It has been a big few weeks for Chance the Rapper – and the Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Nuggets he has stood up for. Not only has the musician/actor’s highly anticipated official debut album, The Big Day, been released to great excitement, but he has also accomplished a major stated goal: to get Wendy’s to bring back a gone, but not forgotten menu item.
Back in May, Chance issued a confidently hopeful tweet: “Positive Affirmations for today: I WILL have a good day, I Will succeed today, Wendy’s WILL bring back spicy nuggets at some point please please Lord let it be today.”
To which Wendy’s official Twitter account cutely responded: “It won’t be today, but there’s always a chance.” See what they did there?
The other thing the fast-food chain did was to seize the opportunity to whip up a frenzy of fan engagement, declaring it would, in fact, put spicy nuggets back on its menus – if fans liked a tweet calling for the menu item’s return two million times.
It didn’t take long – just two days -- for that threshold to be reached, and now, only a few months later, Chance’s goal – and that of more than two million other people – has been accomplished: Spicy Chicken Nuggets are back (albeit only for a limited time) at Wendy’s.
“Tweet it and they will come … Wendy's Spicy Chicken Nuggets have officially returned to menus nationwide,” Wendy’s announced last week in a press release, following up with a Twitter notice of their return that shouted out Chance.
Chance, for his part, saw reason to celebrate. “WE DID IT. #SpicyNuggets are back @Wendys.” But then he upped the ante, writing, “I NEED NUGS FOR LIFE.”
It does kind of seem like the least Wendy’s could do for all that free advertising, right?
