How to Make a Bacon Lattice — Guy’s Grocery Games

Bacon was king on this week’s episode of Guy’s Grocery Games, which made us remember that time we made a bacon lattice (yes, just like lattice on a pie) in Food Network Kitchen. And what exactly would you use a bacon lattice for? Well, we love it draped over a meatloaf or turkey — while the meat cooks, the bacon drippings add extra flavor. If you make a smaller lattice, then it’s a fun bottom garnish for a Caesar salad.

To make a large lattice: Lay 5 strips of bacon, vertically, about 1 inch apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Then weave 4 or 5 more pieces of bacon, horizontally, through the vertical strips to make a lattice or basketweave shape. This can be draped over your favorite meatloaf recipe or a 14-to-16-pound turkey. Bake or roast as you would normally.
You can also bake the lattice by itself. Just bake it at 350 degrees F until the bacon is golden and crispy, 15 to 20 minutes. Let it cool, and enjoy a fun new way to eat bacon!
Tune in next Sunday at 8|7c to see who dominates the grocery aisles.
