You know those seasonal mint milkshakes that are sold at a certain fast-food joint around St. Patrick’s Day? Those can be expensive and packed with ingredients you may or may not be able to pronounce. Not ideal, right? Enter your new favorite frosty March treat.

These St. Patrick’s Day Mint Schnapps Shakes (pictured above) are not only cool and creamy, but they’re also spiked. And they’re green, of course. It takes only five minutes and a handful of ingredients to turn out these boozy beauties.

While the vanilla ice cream provides a rich base, the peppermint Schnapps promises the minty flavor you crave. Take it from the chefs in Food Network Kitchen: This shake is “only as good as the ice cream that goes into it, so splurge on a really high-quality one.” As for the requisite green hue, that comes from just a few drops of food coloring.

If you prefer to skip the alcohol altogether, you’re in luck, because these St. Patrick’s Day Mint Shakes (pictured above) are every bit as decadent as their spiked counterparts, but they get their minty flavor from peppermint extract instead of the Schnapps. Before serving, top each glass with fluffy whipped cream and green sprinkles for a next-level finish.
