The AC is cranked up, shorts are on and whatever you’re drinking is filled to the brim with ice cubes. And you know what’s not happening this far into July? The oven — and it’s staying off all summer long. Keep your kitchen cool with these sweet treats that don’t require the oven, which are all about bringing on sweetness, not sweat.
When a hankering for Key lime pie strikes, you don’t have to go big. This striking, layered Angel Food Cake and Berry Trifle cuts a corner, all in the name of leaving your oven in the off position. It calls for store-bought angel food cake (which, though baked, wasn’t baked by you) to add a plush layer in between levels of tangy yogurt and juicy blueberries, raspberries and strawberries.
