What to Watch: A Special Chopped/Star Crossover and Father's Day in the Kitchen

This Father's Day weekend, Food Network has new episodes geared toward the guys. First, Paula is cooking "dad food" with her son Jamie. Then Ree is cooking breakfast and lunch for her cowboys. Then Trisha is making "manly" food for her husband, Garth, and his two buddies. Afterward, Giada is making a special dinner for her husband, Todd. Then on Sunday, Guy is in the kitchen with his two sons, nephew and dad. And Jeff is taking a stroll down memory lane with his dad.
Right after, watch the season premiere of Bobby Flay's Barbecue Addiction. Bobby is preparing a Mexican feast with bold flavors. And on Sunday evening, it's a special night of Chopped (also, don't forget to watch the After Hours episode online right after the show). On Food Network Star, the 10 remaining contestants get put through a Chopped challenge judged by Alex Guarnaschelli. And last, it's Robert Irvine to the rescue on a new episode of Restaurant: Impossible.
Paula Deen and her eldest son, Jamie Deen, are in the kitchen whipping up some of their favorite dad foods! They're making Creamy Roasted Cauliflower, Jamie's Country Pork Chops and for dessert, it's an Old Fashioned Butternut Cake.
Everyone is getting fed on the ranch today, including the calves, cowboys and kids. For breakfast it's French Breakfast Puffs, which Ree prepares the night before. For lunch it's stick-to-your-ribs Drippy French Dip Sandwiches. Then for dessert, Baked Fudge.
Garth's friends Chris and Joe are giving Trisha some help around the ranch, so she also recruits their help in cooking up some "manly" food, which they need after a hard day's work. On the menu are Pulled Pork Barbeque sandwiches, Baked Bean Casserole and Sweet Potato Salad. The day ends with a group campfire and Samoa S'mores.
While Jade is spending the day with her dad, Giada prepares a special Father's Day dinner for Todd. On the menu are Bacon and Cheese Manicotti, Spicy Red-Wine Spaghetti and Meaty Penne.
Jamie Deen is cooking all of his favorite dishes for Father's Day, while Brooke and the kids are secretly putting his gifts together. Jamie cooks grilled and sliced flank steak, roasted balsamic onions, broccoli and slivered Parmesan salad, and a brownie sundae.
It's boys night at the Fieri house as Guy cooks with his sons, nephew and dad. The menu features old favorites with new flavors, like golden potato cakes infused with Middle Eastern spices, baked pita wedges, Cucumber Mint Raita, Guy's Roasted Garlic and Caramelized Onion Jam, and Spicy Chorizo Meatballs made from scratch with Guy's own spice blend.
Taking a walk down memory lane, Jeff and his dad visit Jim's Original, home of the classic bone-in pork chop sandwich. Jeff then returns to the kitchen to show off his own Pork Loin Sandwich with pickled peppers and caramelized onions. And nothing says Chicago street food like a Fish Dog: Jeff's frying up strips of cod and layering each on a hot dog bun with homemade tartar sauce. It's all washed down with Italian Lemonade.
Bobby Flay showcases the bold spices and vibrant colors of Mexican cuisine in a backyard feast that features Smoked Adobo Marinated Brisket Tortas, Grilled Red Snapper With Pineapple-Green Onion Butter, a light Arugula Salad With Jicama, Papaya and a Pomegranate Dressing, and a margarita flavored with one of Bobby's favorite ingredients — coconut!
An odd mix of ingredients in the first basket, including mache and pickled sausage, has the four chef contestants working hard to complete unique appetizer plates. Then in the entree round, the chefs must work with squid. And for the final round, will a hard-to-pronounce ingredient in the final basket be hard to incorporate into desserts?
In this week's episode someone is getting chopped. Each of the 10 remaining finalists will be given an exotic ingredient and must be able to use their palate to identify and present what it is.
