What to Watch: Hanson on Cupcake Wars and the Premiere of Guy's Grocery Games

This Saturday, watch Amy Thielen take a road trip through Madison, Wis., and later tune in to see the Hanson brothers judge the competition on Cupcake Wars. On Sunday, start off the morning with five dollar-stretching recipes from Rachael Ray. In the evening it's the premiere of Guy's Grocery Games, part game show and part cooking competition all in the aisles of a supermarket. Afterward, tune in to Halloween Wars, where the remaining teams take inspiration from the swamp to create eerie creatures. And then it's a new episode of Cutthroat Kitchen, where you never know what sabotage will come next.
Amy Thielen heads to Madison, Wis., where she meets with friend and local butcher Johnny, who sends her home with delectable beef spareribs from Fountain Prairie Farm. At her favorite cheese shop, Fromagination, Amy picks up some of Wisconsin's best cheeses before stopping at Karben4, a new brewery that will supply her with a smoked porter to use both as an ingredient and an accompaniment to her recipes. Back at home, she utilizes her collected ingredients to prepare Oven Baked Ribs, Smoked Sardine Caesar and Maple Bread with Washed Rind Cheese.
Four cupcake bakers fight to the finish for a chance at having their cupcakes at a concert and after-party for the band Hanson and a $10,000 prize. To get there, they must win over three special guest judges: Isaac, Zac and Taylor Hanson!
Rachael offers up a stretch-a-buck menu to make you healthy, wealthy and wise. Her recipes include Chunky Chicken-Vegetable Noodle Soup, Pulled Whisky Chicken BLT Sandwiches, Rice and Beans Casserole, Panzanella Strata and Spaghetti with Chickpea Red Sauce.
In the first game, Guy challenges the four chefs to make their best version of spaghetti and meatballs, but some of the key ingredients are "out of stock." In the second game, the chefs will use their supermarket savvy and couponing genius to make a family meal for four under $7! In the final game, the two remaining chefs will make their best dishes using only ingredients from the frozen food aisle. The winner gets to go on a shopping spree worth up to $20,000.
Three remaining teams made up of an expert pumpkin carver, cake decorator and sugar artist go to battle to create mind-blowing Halloween-themed displays that capture what happens when swamp creatures attack! At the end, one team will be eliminated and two will move on to the final battle. The special guest judge is Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, which are the basis for the series True Blood!
Time to see how the chefs stack up for the round 1 pancake challenge! Then, times get tough in Cutthroat Kitchen when one chef is forced to cut his or her overflowing jambalaya ingredients to just five pounds. Finally, one chef is beat by a winning dish of meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
