Guy Fieri is returning with a new season of Guy's Grocery Games, premiering May 11 at 8|7c.The competition features four talented chefs battling in supermarket-themed cooking challenges with real-world obstacles, and it all takes place in an all-new grocery store this season. It could be shopping on a budget, substituting for out-of-stock ingredients or grabbing groceries at the last minute before closing time. In each challenge, the chefs must prepare dishes with items pulled from the shelves, then face judging in front of an expert panel. One by one, chefs check out, until the winner is left standing. He or she has the opportunity to net up to $20,000 in a timed shopping spree through the aisles.
In the premiere episode, four devoted moms, who also happen to be talented chefs, compete in a special Mother's Day showdown. Their first challenge involves a new game called ABC; the ingredients they use must start with those letters. Next, in Budget Battle, the three remaining chefs make a brunch for four on a budget of $7.08. Then, Guy throws everyone for a loop in the final game, Cart Swap, as the two remaining chefs prepare a guilty pleasure. The competitor who makes the most-indulgent dish advances to the shopping spree in hopes of winning $20,000.
Stay tuned for more fun and games throughout the season, including a special Food Network Star showdown featuring past Star winners, as well as a special Food Network All-Stars competition with Chopped judges Alex Guarnaschelli and Marc Murphy, America's Best Cook mentor Cat Cora, and former Next Iron Chef and Iron Chef America competitor Marcel Vigneron.
Judges this season are Melissa d'Arabian, Richard Blais, G. Garvin, Troy Johnson, Catherine McCord, Aarti Sequeira and some new faces.
