With the holidays over, it's time to turn over a new leaf, and for many that means making healthy resolutions. Whether you're simply hoping to shed the extra holiday pounds or want to learn how to make over your entire eating repertoire, Food Network has programming to help steer you in the right direction.
Saturday morning, watch Ree and Trisha whip up some healthy favorites that aren't lacking in flavor. On The Kitchen, the co-hosts offer their tips for lightening up classic recipes and advise viewers on ways to kick off the new year right. Sunday, tune in for Giada's healthy spa day with friends. After that, Guy Fieri shares his lightened-up Italian menu that packs a punch. Finally, Daphne Brogdon gets in the kitchen with her mom and sister to cook healthy family favorites.
And don't forget: Sunday evening, tune in for the premiere of Guy's Grocery Games: Family Style and a new season of Worst Cooks in America with Tyler Florence and Anne Burrell. Plus, there are all-new sabotages on Cutthroat Kitchen.
During an evening walk, Ree plans some fast and healthy meals. She's dreaming of a Heavenly Hummus Wrap, a flavorful Ginger Steak Salad, a Grilled Nectarine Salad and a Spicy Cauliflower Stir-Fry that goes from stove to plate in minutes.
Being healthy and balanced has become important to Trisha and her niece Ashley, who is joining Trisha in the kitchen. The two share some healthy cooking secrets while enjoying an easy, flavorful and healthy meal of raspberry chicken; a big green salad with feta, garbanzos, walnuts, lemon juice and olive oil; edamame Parmesan and chocolate angel food cake with macerated strawberries, before going on a walk.
The Kitchen is kicking off the new year with a fresh start. The hosts are talking new food trends for 2015 with Food Network's Katherine Alford. Favorite recipes get lightened up, Jeff cooks up a delicious veggie lasagna and the gang shares portion-control tips. Plus, there are powered-up post-workout snacks, and Geoffrey creates the perfect Pavlova dessert, a refreshing cucumber cocktail and apps that will keep you healthy.
Giada De Laurentiis creates a spa-day menu featuring Farro and Kale Salad, Peas and Carrots, and Almond and Peach Toasts. In addition, she makes a homemade facial/body scrub and spa water that are all part of a day of pampering that she has planned for her girlfriends.
Knowing that the key to good health is moderation, Guy Fieri serves up a balanced Italian meal, complete with fruit, vegetables and, yes, pasta! Check out his take on Linguine Cacio e Pepe with Crispy Pancetta, served with a light, bright Grilled Asparagus and Fennel Salad. For dessert, rich and creamy meet light and fresh in Guy's Caramelized Orange Parfait.
In an homage to the healthy dishes her mom created as a child, Daphne Brogdon invites her mom and sister over for dinner. Daphne livens up a pecan-stuffed chicken breast and pairs it with blistered tomatoes and feta cheese along with crowd-pleasing couscous. For dessert, a little bit of dark chocolate sauce over fresh berries puts a smile on everyone's face.
The chefs have brought along a secret weapon — their kids! Four competing families start by cooking breakfast, but they have to watch their weight. Next, families must make a hot lunch according to the rules of ABC. The final two families are tasked with making a winning Sunday supper featuring hot dogs. Ultimately, the winning family goes after the chance to earn $20,000 in the shopping spree!
With Chef Tyler Florence now beside her in the kitchen, Chef Anne Burrell is out to claim her turf and take the win. After an open call brings some truly horrible cooks right to Anne and Tyler, the pair chooses 14 recruits to bring back to Boot Camp. These "home cooks" make the chefs their signature dishes. Upon tasting, Anne and Tyler choose their recruits and give them a lesson in creating the ultimate romantic meal.
A chef has to make breakfast hash in a bunk bed. Then, another chef has to re-create Alton's hike out of the Grand Canyon. Finally, a chef has to make strawberry shortcake with long tools.
