So far on Cake Wars, we’ve seen everything from comic hero cakes to spectacular wedding creations. Each week contestants are bringing their A-game with the hopes of impressing judges Ron Ben-Israel and Waylynn Lucas, who along with host Jonathan Bennett make for a hilarious trio and a lively set, as seen in this behind-the-scenes video.

Between takes, Jonathan and Ron hit up the snack table, loved for its abundance of food and notorious for expanding waistlines. “It’s impossible to come here and not eat something,” Jonathan said while taking a quick bite of a snack and picking up a banana for a fake phone call to Ron. “Cake Wars, may I help you?” Ron played along. The cast’s good humor doesn’t stop at the snack table — Jonathan admits to hiding Waylynn’s things from her dressing room once in a while. “She can’t leave because I have her purse. That’s something fun we do back here,” Jonathan joked. When they aren’t in the dressing rooms or in the control room — “the epicenter of everything that is Cake Wars,” as Jonathan described it — they’re having fun impersonating each other backstage, cracking the set’s hard-boiled eggs on their heads or laughing and eating doughnuts together, as seen in these videos.
