The holiday season just keeps on giving. This afternoon the James Beard Foundation announced its 2016 nominees for Book, Broadcast and Journalism Awards, and like in years past, Scripps Networks Interactive programming earned high industry praises.
Christmas at Bobby's scored a nomination in the Specials category of the Broadcast Media Awards, alongside fellow nominees CBS Sunday Morning: The Food Issue: Eat Drink & Be Merry, which airs on CBS, and PBS' Lidia Celebrates America: Home for the Holidays. Premiering in December 2015, Christmas at Bobby's brought together Bobby Flay and some of his closest Food Network pals, like Alex Guarnaschelli, Katie Lee and Geoffrey Zakarian, at Bobby's New York City apartment; they enjoyed a seasonal slumber party complete with eats, drinks and a game of Secret Santa. Andrew Zimmern, a mentor on All-Star Academy, picked up a nomination for Outstanding Personality/Host for his work on Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods. Other nominees in that category include WETA's Pati Jinich for Pati's Mexican Table and PBS' Vivian Howard of A Chef's Life.
Two Cooking Channel series claimed nominations. Extra Virgin, hosted and produced by Debi Mazar and Gabriele Corcos, is nominated for Television Program, in Studio or Fixed Location, as is WETA's Pati's Mexican Table, hosted by Pati Jinich and produced by Gordon Elliott, and Jacques Pépin Heart & Soul, hosted by Jacques Pépin and produced by Tina Salter, on KQED-TV. And in the category of Visual and Technical Excellence, Cooking Channel's Avec Eric, Season 3 is nominated, alongside Food for Thought, Food for Life, which airs on eatingwell.com and foodforthoughtfilm.com, and Netflix's Chef's Table.
